More than 55 local seniors attended “Walk the Path to Wellness,” a free interactive health and wellness event focused on fall prevention, held Oct. 21 at Munson Township Hall.
Presented by the Geauga County Department on Aging, Ohman Family Living and UH Geauga Medical Center, the program featured a presentation by a UH speaker on “Keeping a Strong Body as We Age,” highlighting ways to maintain strength in the legs, core, back, shoulders and heart for healthy, independent living.
Department staff also discussed the agency’s Home Safety Program, which helps county seniors remain in their homes safely.
After lunch, participants rotated through a variety of hands-on activities including balance and grip screenings; upper and lower body and core workout demonstrations; ask a nurse practitioner; ask a pharmacist; nutrition tips for bone and balance health; brain exercises; fitting an assistive device; and blood pressure screenings.
